Sultan,

Thanks for that link.

For 7 years before coming to Adi Da, I was a devotee of Meher Baba, who, during his lifetime was generally seen to be the leader of the Sufi tradition.

My exposure to Sufism during that time was substantial, and I came to value it as one of the most genuine and profound of all of the Paths I had encountered.

To a significant degree, many of the fundamental elements of Sufism can be found also in Adi Da's Teaching. In fact, there is a great commonality in the esoteric Teachings of
all of the great religions.

Many religions are "big" enough to allow for the fact that there are multiple Paths to God. Others stress that their's
is the ONE AND ONLY way.

I personally feel that those religions which claim to be the ONE AND ONLY have been a great divisive factor in the history of the world, and even though those religions may not have anything to do with hate, destruction, war they have been used by those seeking political power to rally the masses behind them.

Anyway, in my experience, Sufism is far removed from that
sort of rabble-rousing.

Namaste!

Jim
