This is the key demarcation between mature and immature spiritualities. Fear is exclusive while love is inclusive. Traditions which insist that theirs is the sole truth and the sole valid path are simply giving voice to their fears. Love would never do this.

Since the nominal topic of this thread is about Islam, however I will say one thing and that is that Islam is at least consistent in its worldview. Christianity (at least as expressed in the Roman Catholic Church of which I am most familiar) like Islam is adamant that it is the sole possessor of truth and the only valid path to God. The key difference between the two faiths is that Islam seems more comfortable in accepting the full consequences of that worldview while Christianity has since the Middle Ages largely lost its fervor in this area. In both cases, however, the real opportunity is to reassess the basic assumptions of exclusivity that lie at the core of such belief.
