Ozone can be generated by passing electric through a steel mesh or by what I think is called a corona discharge method. BOth concepts are built around a small appliance the size of a toaster oven. O3 is highly unstable and does revert to oxygen in short order. If I remember correctly the 3ird ion of oxygen joins with other elements and renders them inert. Ozone can destroy nearly any chemical compound, bacteria, spore, virus, mold....etc...anything organic. The generators constantly produce a very low level of ozone. Shootie

homemade ozone machine 1)list of materials a)instructions 1) neon sign OR similar 6k volt transformer 2) two jars --- large glass jar (which will hold the small one) AND a small glass jar 3) small roll of aluminum foil 4) few short pieces of wire 5) two paper clips a) insert a piece of foil into the small jar which will cover the bottom and come up more than seven eighths of the way up the sides b) cover the outside bottom of the small jar with foil so that it duplicates the same area as the foil inside (do NOT let the two pieces of foil come into contact with one another) c) place the smaller jar inside the larger one d) take a wire and connect ONE of the high voltage wires from the transformer using a paper clip to the foil inside the small jar e) do the same operation as above with the OTHER high voltage wire and a paper clip to the foil outside the small jar f) put the small jar into the larger jar (which btw could be plastic) **(the small one MUST be glass) g) Turn the transformer on you're NOW in the manufacturing ozone business In the dark, you'll see a blue/bluegreen/green glow and a crackling noise ... if you see red or orange, and/or an arc ----- there is a short in the connections at that point ..... turn off and separate the wires, for they will burn out at that point of contact ..... ozone will come out the top so don't restrict the openings hour or so per day will help freshen the air, kill bacteria, and will prevent mold Can't have the thread thinking O'Slev is the ONLY engineeringtypeperson present .... hehehehe
