My husband tried to save us some moolah by laying the hot tub electric wires 6" into the ground by doing it himself. Turned out it was against the codes, had to be dug 2 1/2 ft into the ground, with a different casing....

That was 2 years ago. It probably will cost us much more to get it undone and done again....and it HAS to be undone sometime or the other...

Arrgh....these men !!! <g>

I got to go. All the best with the inspection.

Have a good afternoon <smile>

code

I've spent several days the past weeks in the city engineer's office of the subdivision where my eldest daughter lives.

codes are actually a good thing and the enforcement/inspections are needed ....
however, when dealing with a moron who has the "power" ...it can be harrowing .....
thank heavens, all the folks with whom I've dealt are ok.

the problem area for gas (natural) is the consumption of oxygen and the insidious replacement of the live giving stuff with carbon monoxide *(as to which the Shootster can unfortunately WELL attest) along with other toxic gases (sulphur dixoide, etc) .....

as a rule, a natural gas hot water heater will NOT require a dedicated outside source for fresh air, but a clothes dryer will ... as well as does a fireplace itself ....

this need has arisen from the better insulation and sealing of windows/doors/cracks ....
the better the barrier to air infiltration
the more the need for a dedicated outside air supply for open flame heat sources

at this juncture of discussion (boring as it is to the thread) I can now see that my curiosity has been tweaked as to how the "ventless gas logs" I installed into one of our fireplaces, as well as the quartz heaters I've installed in two bathrooms actually work WITHOUT outside air being provided ......

I know they are safe, for I have five or six CarbonMonoxide detectors in various rooms in the house .....

hmmmmmmm

this will have to wait til later as I MUST watch my alma mater play feetballs with Okla in about an hour ....
it will take me that long at least to paint my face red/black and get into my masked RedRaider outfit ....
Marilyn will no longer let me bring the horse into the house so I can circle the room when we score a touchdown ......

I hesitate to even ask about the commercial property purchase coming up ....
HAS to be for some other purpose than YOUR business usage ....

I've got it ....
warehouse
to
store
your autos
your boats
your airplanes
and
SOME of the money ....

yep ... thassss it

whew ...had me worried there for a sec ....
couldn't BEAR the thought of you going into normal commerce
