Mr. Stevenson, first let me say it publicly that I find Mr. Alsuezi's habit to block you a breach of the first amendment of our constitution, the same amendment that allows him to promote better understanding of the Quran and Islam. Unfortunately, I am not a teologist and have no answers to many of your queries about the Quran. On the other hand, like Mani, I have a "beef" with my own religion in its strict construction, and long ago, actually just before I was to have passed the ritual of the "Bar Mitzva", I have developed a number of major objections with some of the "Moral tenets" of the old testament and Jewish law. Therefore, I am "practicing" my own faith (or lack thereof) in my own way, maintaining, all that I believe is good and moral in traditional Judaism, but rejecting the like of "He who hates his son, saves his whip" (another version of your beef with wives beating in the Kuran), or "the almighty bears the sins of fathers on their children and the children of their children..." or the genocidal extermination of "Amalec" for some sins committed 3000 years ago. The mainstream of Judaism, has already abandoned or interpreted many of these less than "moral" tenets more than a thousand years ago. The question is whether Islam can undergo a similar transition. I think it can, but I also think it may take some times. Since most of the Quran is based on Judeo Christian moral principles, that include, peace, love for thy neighbor, and I would suppose that eventually the peace loving forces will prevail.

To ALL:

Since my limit of spending on this venture is $1000 (have already registered 5 times as a result of Mr. Alsuezi’s blocking me), I regretfully will not register again should Mr. Alsuezi decide to silence me yet once again on this thread.

Therefore I will post my comments to his posts (and any others I read on this thread) on the following thread titled Understanding Islam at Subject 51780

I have been contacted by the originator of that thread (through Private message) indicating that he also has been blocked from posting on this thread, and also gave a little background on Mr. Alsuezi and his thread. From my understanding The “Understanding Islam” thread is the very same thread that Mr. Alsuezi for a whole posted his comments on Islam, and was similarly challenged intellectually on similar questions and issues on Quran.

The originator of the thread in fact went out of his way to please him by changing the title of his thread from “Islam and the innocent” to “Understanding Islam” (per Mr. Alsuezi’s request). The thread also provided resources and links to Islam – both positive and negative – again some of which were provided by Mr. Alsuezi himself. However Mr. Alsuezi was angered and started his own thread (for being faced with a growing number of questions and issues regarding Quran), while continuing to post and express his opinion (as he wished to do so) on the original thread without being blocked or silenced.

In fact from my understanding he is still more than welcome to go to that thread and express his thoughts in any way form or shape, as he wants to without being silenced or blocked.

In any event, and to repeat myself (!), if I am silenced on this thread once again by Mr. Alsuezi, I will continue to express my thoughts on the other thread (which encourages the free flow of expression of thoughts and opinion regardless of the content in a civil respectful manner).

I, however, sincerely hope that Mr. Alsuezi does not block me again, for which I kind of a like this thread for its unique biased position on Islam, and I can sort of a be viewed as someone who can bring some charm to the otherwise boring one sided, one dimensional propaganda views intended to be promoted by the originator of the thread, while keeping my promise to be totally logical in my explanations and posts and accept reasonable intelligent non-evasive responses to potential questions and issues I may raise.

Sincerely,

Mr. S. Stevenson
