The distance between the previous 747 and the Airbus was over 2 miles more than is specified by the FAA.

The one problem I have with this whole story is that I believed things like wind shear and turbulence were detectable from the cockpit. I know that I have been in planes just about to land in Denver and they detect wind shear and go straight up and abort landing. They also tell us of coming turbulence when we're flying. Now the latter may be as a result of reports from other planes but to detect wind shear either the plane or the tower must have the ability to see such things. If this is the case why wasn't this avoided? While I think the reports are plausible I have my doubts about what really happened. After what just happened for the Admin to have to admit another downed plane would be a major slice of humble pie and perceived as another victory for terrorists.

I responded to a later post of yours on composites. This is really scaring me because I'm now believing that stress and a repair did cause this accident. I can see the engines flying off from the plane rolling out of control and I can now see the tail shearing from old repairs and abuse.

Now the question is, how many more are out there.

I hate the Airbus and I hate any fool who would mandate that we should all have a beer and visually check these composite tails.
