Speaking about meltdown: looks like the new Intel 0.13 process has some problems: excessive leakage...
p.25 of Datasheet for P-III says, Table 7,
ftp://download.intel.com/design/PentiumIII/datashts/24965702.pdf
For 1.13GHz P-III we have:
Icc Core - 19.4A
Icc deep sleep = 10.2A
Icc StopGrant = 14A!!!
=============================

For older 0.18 process:
Icc Core - 22.6A
deep sleep - 6.6A
Stop Grant - 6.9A
=============================

This means that the new Intel transistors leak half
of the total CPU power into nothing, leakage is 50%.
I wonder how those transistors would fare on P4...

If you compare this with AMD process results,
amd.com.
for 1800+ XP we have (p.31):
Icc typical = 33.8 A
Icc stop grant = 0.66A
or the leakage is less than 2%.

Where is Yousef when we need his expertise on
quality transistor architecture? ;-)
Elmer and Yousef must be proud of their efforts.
Nice job guys.

P.S. Paul, please do comment on the Idsat and leakage too.
It is at least close to your background. I am waiting
impatiently <g>...
