You are absolutely right. Of course women are not necessarily one thing or another. Life is long for most and offers a rich variety of experiences and involvements.

A woman is not necessarily one thing or another; and may be one thing for a time and other things at other times. Poet made the simple comment that women=mothers is a century old idea. This is of course true. However, depending on the context, we may be implying that there was something wrong with those women=mothers. Or that there is something better about the modern womenNOTnecessarily=mothers. "Candide" was one of my my favorite books for many years; mainly because it reminded me to always question whether or not the current state of affairs is as great as it is portrayed.
