You missed the point. ... Many of us think that solving the inequality is the only way to solve the problem short of genocide.

It would be great if we could help rebuild Afghanistan in the way we helped rebuild Japan after WWII, if they will let us. They don't seem to want any British stabilization force there. And as I mentioned earlier, I think a large project such as an oil pipeline there could be a real boon to them.

We'll never be able to solve the inequality under governments and cultures outside our own. It is ridiculously idealistic and naive to think so. Under our own government though, we've already done this. In fact, under our government, we've actually created some superior classes under the law to make up for past inequities. I'm not so sure this is smart or should continue. (I'm a small part Chippewa, myself.)

We have not yet solved inequities in our own culture, and because there are so many subcultures and so many starting points in America, we never will. But the opportunity is there, and the legal tools and rights are there for absolutely any citizen of this country to succeed given determination and some luck, even starting from nothing.

This is what we need to highlight about our culture to the rest of the world. We don't need to tear it down because inequities exist. They will always exist. I don't think I'm missing the point at all. It's not about being the "moral" leader of the world, it's about being a pretty good working model of how freedom should look.
