One would be an argument from self defense. You can kill someone who would otherwise kill you.

That does not explain why 99+% of people agree with killing the fetus if the mother might otherwise die. Why would people who believe the fetus is a person use your "self defense" argument to kill the fetus rather than the mother. With such an overwhelming percentage, one would think there would be an overwhelming answer.

I have never heard a pro life person argue their case because "maybe" the fetus is human, and therefore "maybe" we shouldn't abort it.

I am not saying you are being insincere, but there is something about your answer which just doesn't seem to have any conviction. You start with this overwhelming statistic that almost 100% of people believe in killing the fetus if the mother's life is in danger; and you then give these underwhelming reasons: people can kill in self defense (unless they are very young), or...maybe the fetus is not a person.

Oh well...
