An observation directly on point. Thanks for it. Reflecting on this, I am reminded of the observation that love and hate are, at the fringes, sometimes the same thing. E is so obsessed with me and this issue that it makes me wonder what her real motivation is. You know how young boys will be mean to young girls when really they secretly admire them and are just looking for them to pay attention to them (as a lawyer, I'm sure you can follow that convoluted grammar!)? It occurs to me to wonder whether maybe the same sort of thing is happening here, in reverse. Of course, E would never admit it, and even if it's true she may not recognize it herself. What do you think? Something in this possibility???
