The sanctions on Iraq were applied in exigent circumstances. Most of us assumed this temporary measure would be followed with an active strategy that would bring it to obsolescence in short order. With all strategies there needs to be an end goal that is measurable and achievable and stated up front....otherwise the strategy becomes self serving and an end in itself.

Restrictive measures applied now under exigent circumstances could easily become entrenched policy. This sets a precident and begins to "change" not protect essentially what America is. Are you aware of any provisions to protect us against this.
