Fair enough. Although I was raised Roman Catholic I've explored a number of faiths and found all of them wanting. The message I've found most resonant to date has been espoused by Neale Donald Walsch in his With God series. These are enormously important and highly readable works which any serious seeker should take a look at. The first volume in the series can be found here: amazon.com

In this view, God is "The All" and everyone and everything are "individuated" aspects of that unified ultimate reality. Life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation, and our freedom in this regard is absolute. There is only one ultimate question: "Who Am I?" and each of us is continually creating and experiencing our answer to that question with our every thought, word, and deed. We come into this world to create and experience Who We Are and Who We Choose to Be. We have no other purpose here. God is love and all are loved. Life is the process of God "godding" and it is eternal.

It's hard to squeeze all this into a paragraph or two, but hopefully I've covered some of the key points.
