On Competition: Q. Are there other companies who provide similar products? Who are these companies and how do they compare to Occam? A. Not currently. There are other companies who provide incomplete solutions, but their products lack the functionality of Occam products. These include major Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) vendors such as Alcatel, Lucent, and Advanced Fiber Communications who are attempting to extend the life of their narrowband DLCs with the addition of ADSL and VoDSL gateway functionality. These solutions may work in the short run; however, they cannot scale to handle high user take rates and much higher usage per subscriber. These solutions also continue to perpetuate a circuit-switched architecture that is ill suited to deliver broadband data effectively.
