You seem to be defensive of the Soviet's invasion of Afghanistan. If it had not occurred, the Afghan civil war would have been far shorter, would not have brought foreigners (Arabs and Pakis) in. It was the Soviet threat that frightened the Saudis and Pakistanis. Without their involvement, no Taliban. Conditions today likely would be far different and better. Plus a lot of Afghans and Russians would not have died before their time.
