Three sisters puzzle: I'm not sure this will work out the way you state it.

If Annie has the Ace, the statements will all be valid - i.e. Annie tells a lie, as she must; Betty tells the truth, 'cos she can, and Cassi lies 'cos she can. If Annie has the King, they will also be valid, Annie tells the truth, as she must; Betty tells the truth, 'cos she can, and Cassi lies 'cos she can...

or have I missed something?

Annie: "I have the card"
Can't be the ace (or she would be telling the truth)
Could have the king

Betty: "I do not have the card"
Could be the ace
Cant be the king

Cassie: "Annie does not have the card"
She could have the king, but not the ace.

So, Annie=K, Betty=A, Cassie=K
Now you add the fact that "at most" one statement is true.

If Annie has the King than she is telling the truth, betty is telling the truth and cassie is lying. 2 truths, no good.

If Betty has the ace, then she is lying, annie is lying, and Cassie is telling the truth. This satisfies the conditions

If Cassie has the king, then she is telling the truth, betty is telling the truth, and annie is lying. 2 truths, no good.

Thus Betty has the ACE

Regards
Jay

Betty has the Ace and is lying. Annie is lying and Cassie is telling the truth. Two false statements, one true one.

Annie can't have the ace as her statement would be true and an ace holder must lie. Annie can't have the king as Betty's statement would then be true as well as Annie's and at most one statement can be true.

Cassie can't have the ace as her statement would be true and an ace holder must lie. Cassie can't have the king as that would make both her & Betty's statements true and at most one statement can be true.

Betty can't hold the king because her statement would be a lie and a king holder must tell the truth.
