Hi Bill,

I am responding to your post (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=16731394) on "Islam The Message" thread, here because I have been blocked from posting on that thread!

you state:
> Because this distinction between a large group that calls itself one thing being rejected by a smaller group which believes that it alone represents the "true faith" exists everywhere. Just as you contend that the majority of those who profess to be adherents of Christianity aren't "really" Christians I can assure you that there are groups in Islam (and Judaism, etc.) who believe the same about the bulk of the followers of their faith who have "strayed" from the "true path".

I see your point. But again a couple of points:

a) To justify Islam's nature because there are others that are like that, is to justify Saddam Hossein because there was Adolph Hitler!

b) No other small groups of people belonging to a faith have done, or can do, so much damage to the civilized world and humanity as the so called radical Muslims have been doing and will continue to do. You may see a psychopath calling himself a Catholic blowing up an abortion clinic killing innocent people. But at the same time you will see a vast majority of Catholics, including the Catholic religious leaders (the bishops, Cardinals and of course the Pope) condemning the action. On the other hand when a psychopath suicide bomber calling himself a Muslim blows himself up in a bus full of people thinking he would go to heaven and be given 72 virgins to play with, do you hear much from a vast majority of Muslims or their religious leaders (the Mullahs, and Ayatollahs) condemning the action?

Regards,
