Thanks for the excellent reporting, Eric. For what it's worth, I've seen similar war stories and cautionary notes expressed on the SCTE Internet Mailing List. One would think that individual dsl and cable tv service providers would broadcast such information to their own users, if for no other reason than to save themselves the grief of having to handle additional help desk loads. The SCTE, for the uninitiated, is the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, a Cable TV professional engineers' group. FAC
