Milo, Re: "Revenue for AMD isn't news worthy? I would have to disagree with you on that."

I didn't say that. The news article wasn't about AMD getting possible revenue; it was about Intel getting a huge embarrassment. I suggest you reread it if you didn't pick up on that.

The way I see it, Intel and AMD both have a win-win situation. I doubt AMD could enforce huge royalties on their technology. The industry detests large royalties on anything, so I am guessing that AMD either has small royalties, or non-existent ones. If Hypertransport becomes a huge success in networking products, I doubt AMD could show more than $20 million in revenue for it per quarter (and that's a big 'if'). Nevertheless, it would be a win for AMD in terms of pushing a standard, and a win for Intel in pushing their networking lines.

In Mike Magee's article there is certainly one loser involved. I know he just did that to make things look interesting, but that's what makes it less newsworthy, and more tabloid.

Moron Milo

Intel already has a Patent Cross License with AMD so it will not have to pay AMD to get a patent license. Sorry, no revenue for AMD.

AMD announced signing of a renewal of a License earlier this year but there were no comments on payments. But if there are payments, AMD pays Intel so it can copy the IA32 compatible processor.
