Re: Did you notice the clueless reaction from the resident "experts" to my post?

That was a great catch on your part, seeing through Intel's obfuscation.

The Intel longs are living in a dream world. AMD led Intel to copper, led Intel to DDR, is leading Intel to SOI, is setting the interconnect standard with Hypertransport, is expanding into workstations, servers, and soon low power notebooks.

So they pretend that Intel SOI is different than the rest of the universe's SOI - otherwise they'd have to admit Intel is behind on that, too.

Kapkan, you were right about SOI. I give you full credit.

Now the question is what did you learn from this?

a) Intel has no clue, and now has to scramble for any kind of SOI process. This research is so far out in the future, that they have no hope of competing with AMD technologies.
b) Intel learned about the benefits and limits of SOI and started research for better ways to implement the technology. While sooner would be better, Intel will probably be able to keep up with other competitive technologies.
c) Intel has been researching this and other technology for a while now, and were fully aware that SOI wouldn't be the right solution for them; therefore, thin-SOI and other developments were researched to make sure they maintain a leadership position in the future.

Now, Kap, you've been an 'A' kind of person for a while now. Are you yet leaning closer to other options?
