HK stocks seen higher, developers set to gain

sg.biz.yahoo.com

HONG KONG, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Hong Kong stocks are expected to open higher on Monday, after a strong performance by Wall Street on Friday, with property developers likely winners after successful flat sales over the weekend.

The Hang Seng Index <.HSI> on Friday gained 0.61 percent, or 69.06 points, to 11,322.36, up 0.31 percent on the week.

Underpinning the market will be strong Christmas sales on Friday in the U.S., Hong Kong's second biggest export market.

The Friday after the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year and consumers mobbed shopping malls, disregarding the grim economy.

Wall Street was spurred by signs that consumer confidence is holding up.
