And it's also a lot easier to cultivate, and less likely to have GM patents...

Seriously, I'm on the tax-regulate-liberalise wing myself. If someone of age wants to take virtually any drug, they go to a regulated store - like, say, the hard liquor stores in Seattle; declare themselves aware of all health hazards; buy the substances, which are controlled, uncontaminated and of course heavily taxed <g>; and restrict where they use them, and what they do while under the influence.

Everyone except the illegal dealer is a winner. Maybe we could even get TradeFair (or equivalents) to manage the trading, to ensure that the grower gets a fairer proportion of the price...

And wow, the number of savagely poor countries that this would help. (At least until the multinationals muscle back in with vast plantations and mechanisation <g>)
