re: since when acquisition expenses considered a goodwill but then again I am not an accountant so I'll take your expert word for it
the actual cost of the acquisition is not goodwill. however, the forward costs to convert assets and technologies waterfalls to subsequent quarters on many large purchases (such as acquisitions). since this intangible cost structure cannot be easily categorized, it is placed under goodwill.
