Exactly. Some people might actually agree with the rules of the authority. This power of numbers or of stength might indeed have been the strenth of the "materialistic authority"! Nothing to dispute there... "I see a difference in authority that is commanded and adhered to only due to fears/hopes regarding materialism..vs..authority that is respected/disrespected due to its integrity in principle." Surely--accept that respecting an authority because YOU think it is principled, is no different than respecting an authority because HE thinks it is principled...unless respecting the belief of another carries (perhaps) more weight than a belief that is intolerant and exclusionary. For example: I could kiss a girl because my value system (and hers) sees a kiss as a sign of affection and sharing, or you might kiss the girl because your belief system dictates that you may kiss her whether she likes it or not. Again, you may buy into arranged marriages because of your materialistic authority. You may think that divorces obtain because two people are trying to talk when one should be listening. You may think that if one person would listen and one person would talk, then most marriages would last. You may think that marriages fail because of "arguing" and that if one person would listen instead of "arguing" there would be no discord. Of course, I don't know what you believe...but do you believe that you are right about everything, or wrong about everything...or that your beliefs may be right or wrong, but you just don't know???
