Of course it is futile to come up with an alternative plan now, but I get the feeling many of those involved with the decision were more worried about the expansion of communism than the lives of ordinary human beings. There were also reasons beyond the more standard arguments put forth here, such as the perception at the time orientals were not as highly valued as whites.... But to pretend or truly believe there were no other alternatives available at all to using such weapons of mass destruction, is completely beyond me and I do not buy it at all. There are always those who believe in only one solution to any serious problem and there always will be....
