In addition to the Iran thing, I remember hearing in the 80's about how he was this cowboy who was willing to deal his oil to the West with indifference to what the brotherhood of Arab nations wanted. There has also been a very common rumor among the international community of Muslims for many years that he is a secret CIA operative....who knows...that is very hard for me to believe but if you use your imagination, you can see the basis for the rumor.
