I remember hearing in the 80's about how he was this cowboy who was willing to deal his oil to the West with indifference to what the brotherhood of Arab nations wanted. Iraq was and is part of OPEC. Sure Iraq cheated on its quota but almost every OPEC country has at one time or another. There has also been a very common rumor among the international community of Muslims for many years that he is a secret CIA operative... I consider it very unlikely that he had any significant assosiation with the CIA, I consider the idea that he was a secret operative of the CIA and took his orders from the CIA absurd. Tim
