Midnight Jan 31 all EU countries convert to Euro's. Do I have that right?

In true EU fashion, the answer appears to be more complicated than that...

Well I am not sure about the destinations you mention, but NY -Zurich I had problems after December 14 until after Dec 24.

As to the Euro by Jan.1 Euro is a public tender currency - e.g. you can pay for groceries in Euro. The transition time - dual currency will extend until end of February (from what I know)

ru2 -- Curious about "$70 security tax". Is that a government add-on, airline add-on or agency add-on? I hate add-ons of all kinds but they seem the order of the day. That one seems high.

Might be worth checking more than one travel agent to see if this fee is universal.
