The changes that I have seen so far are band aids anyway.

That is probably the worse thing. Everyone is in agreement that all of this hassle really isn't making things safer yet they keep doing it so that it appears they are doing something.

One of the things that I said was that the inconvenience factor would be more significant and damaging than the fear factor.

I all but quit flying when the seats got so close together that I, at 5'3", couldn't cross my legs. I thought that flying was dehumanizing then.

I've already been just about everywhere. I can take a travel break. No way I'm going to submit to the mess you describe unless it's an emergency. It would be OK if the measures being taken made a real difference. If you have to fly, you have my sympathy.

I don't consider it a problem if there are fewer planes flying around, though. That could be a silver lining given that the system was becoming taxed. And if it encourages more productive techniques, like videoconferencing, that's a good thing. What I mourn most is the loss of productivity. Productivity increases were what was driving our economy.
