bail-out?

What is there to be gained POLITICALLY in bailing out
one's friends, when there is lots of room to suggest that
one's friends are sharks and criminals?

If I were GW, I would want DISTANCE, and lots of it.

Namaste!

Jim

I don't think US will step in. This is too murky. Chrysler was one thing. they made cars. LTC was a closer example, and, in fact, the US engineered a deal to take it over until the positions could be unwound. ENE positions in the market place have to be unwound. I suspect the US will have some behind the scenes role. here's a wild card - would buffett step in? larry

<<US gov can bail them out. What's the chance on that?>>Slim to none, IMO. I wouldn't rule out continuance as an operating entity if they get a big chunk of DIP financing and perhaps some partners...but neither that nor gummint gonna help shareholders...they're probably toast, unfortunately. I don't mean to sound harsh about it, but sometimes folks see value in BK situations where there is none. Not that there might not be some nice speculative bounces. But these experts saying shareholders eventually get wiped in situations...IMO, they're tellin it straight.
