It always looks so surgical (and defensive) and clean to wipe out others from a thousand to a few thousand feet

Israel has the power to do this, but has refrained. Or are you suggesting that they carpet-bomb Jenin?

Israel's reluctance to cause civilian casualties is the terrorists' shield.

FBI MISSED ITS CHANCE

In 1989 the FBI had videotaped five Arabs target practicing outside New York
City. They had thought them harmless. However, these Arabs were being
trained by a U.S. Army sergeant from Fort Bragg, N.C., named Ali Mohamed,
who turned out to be a longtime member of the radical Islamic militant group
banned in Egypt for assassinating President Anwar Sadat. Eventually, all
five of the target shooters were convicted on conspiracy charges related to
the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Their group eventually became part of
Al-Qaeda.

When the FBI raided the apartment of Nosair after he murdered Rabbi Meir
Kahane, may G-d avenge his blood, they found detailed maps of US landmark
buildings, as well as various terrorist manuals and other paraphernalia.
Yet they did nothing then.

However, the FBI did find the time to send 40 agents to raid the Hatikva
Jewish Center in Brooklyn and to confiscate 100 crates of books and tapes
of Torah classes given by the late RabbiMeir Kahane.

Arafat knows if he pressures his own terrorist blood-loving populace
enough they will turn on him and kill him. A few months ago, Arafat's
regime tried and convicted Arabs accused of assisting Israel. He tried
them in four hours, and the next day, each were executed, chick chock.
Why can't he do the same to the terrorists? Now there's a question for
Zinni to ask.

Syria has chemical missile capabilities
"The Syrian army has type 'B' and 'C' Scud missiles, some of them equipped with chemical warheads," Yaalon said on Monday. "These missiles have a range of 500 kilometers, covering most of the area of the State of Israel," he added.

"The goal of Syria remains the return of the Golan Heights," Yaalon said. "The Syrians are hesitant of confronting the IDF directly," he said, attributing this to fears its army is inferior to the IDF. "They prefer to develop a deterrent force with the Scud missiles, Hizbullah-launched terror actions and encouragement of Palestinian terror."

Yaalon warned that an all-out war with Syria could result from the "explosive confrontation with the Hizbullah on Israel's northern border."
