edit: Zulu King - sorry that might need some ‘splainin. Internally there was a power struggle between Dr. Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi, Chief of the Buthelezi tribe and the older Goodwill Zwelithini Kabhekuzulu, the Zulu monarch officially recognized by the SA Govt as the King of KwaZulu, their homeland. Economically Buthelezi was more powerful in that he was a royal capitalist, and the CIA was wondering if indeed it would be appropriate to appoint him The King. Hence the irony that even backing what for the US could have been 'spun' as the Right guy, would not have helped much. You might say, the fix was in: poly-tricks, aint she sweet.

Spiral, Sweet story about the Kid with the Coke and the elephant-gun-toting Guide. I think most men can see themselves in that lesson, maturing from the former to the latter. Which is to say, you can take with you the wildness of your youth if you temper it with responsibility and wisdom. They're not necessarily irreconcilable. As for the photo, it's in the Nepal Himalaya. Yes, I've climbed there, but unfortunately my own photos were never quite so breathtakingly composed. <g> It's a friend's shot. Cheers, Climber
