yah, but it is really surprising about just how much this is about confidence. business leaders spend and invest on the confidence of their business. if their stock is rising, they get more confident. yah they watch their sales pipeline and all but at the end of the day, it is their confidence in their industry growth that allows them to believe and a fiscal package would add confidence. we are recovering and the bottom is in but there is not much slope yet and we should be running a decent sized deficit now. CNBC just reported we are predicting deficits for the next 3 years. we shouldn't just be running one, we should be running a big one or we risk the loss of confidence on a secular basis like Japan. what a disaster that is. we (correctly) ran huge surpluses along the way and we have earned the right to run deficits at times like these.

unemployment is going to go much higher, it ain't gonna stop in January....
