So, somebody who is black as the ace of spades would be defined as white if they were born in Turkey or Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. Anyway, just how big is the middle east as

1. Pakistanis are Asian
2. Saudis and Turks are white
3. Not sure where the dividing line is. I assume Iran is Midle East and Pakistan is Asia. I guess they count Turkmenistan as Asia. Don't know on Afghanistan. Don't know on Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. Siberia?
4. A black born in the Middle East - now that is tricky. Probably the poorest place I have ever been is a village called Duyuq in the desert just outside of Jericho inhabited by Sudanese. You could be in the poorest places in Africa. I assume these guys were brought by the Arabs as slaves, though the Arabs claim they came voluntarily to the "Holy Land". Some live in the Old City of Jerusalem instead. I don't think anyone would dispute if they wrote themselevs down as African.

This rule has only one purpose IMO - to stop Jews from claiming to be Asians. They had to expand it out to make it look like they weren't discriminating against Jews.

I can see the case for affirmative action for both African-Americans and Native Americans in the US due to their clear past oppression. There may be better ways of handling that though than the system at the moment.

However, all the other stuff is complete nonsense.

The British forms have heaps of different categories. The only people getting any special treatment here are Aborigines, but I've never seen one of those classification forms here.

BTW Vietnam vets also get affirmative action!
