Pervert Paul -> Re: That is either a BLATANT LIE - or $200 Million down the AMD SHAREHOLDER TOILET !!

If you had a hint of a clue about the matter you continually blither about, you'd know this:

Net cash used in investing activities was $466 million during the first nine
months of 2001. Major uses of cash during the period included $542 million for
the purchases of property, plant and equipment, primarily for Dresden Fab 30 and
Asia manufacturing facilities and $122 million for additional equity investments
in FASL, offset by $196 million of net proceeds from the maturities of
available-for-sale securities.

and this:
FASL has also expanded its production
capacity through a foundry arrangement with Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc.
(FMI). In connection with this foundry arrangement, we agreed to guarantee up to
$125 million of Fujitsu's obligations under FMI's credit facility. As of
September 30, 2001, we had a $125 million loan guarantee outstanding with
respect to this arrangement.

I'd say it represents about $125 million that AMD flushed down the toilet. Now compare that to the $5 Billion in sales and profits that Intel has foregone as it rode Rambus down the toilet, and the additional $5 Billion Intel lost over the years as it rode Merced/Itanium down the toilet.

The difference between AMD and Intel is that AMD knows when to cut loose a loser (OTOH - didn't they get rid of you?), while the management at Intel would rather blow $5 Billion than admit that they made a mistake. For a while, a wealthy company's management can afford to blow $5 Billion at a pop to avoid admitting an error during the give and take of squabbling over executive power and position. But sooner or later, those $5 Billions begin to add up.

The latest one appears to be the $5 Billion in additional retooling that will have to be done to rush SOI into production so that Intel doesn't fall even further behind AMD, IBM, and Motorola.

PS - what's this with you and butts? A great many of your posts revolve around that part of the anatomy. I hope they've managed to keep you away from the small children and pets - wouldn't want any "incidents", eh?
