But to think that National Socialism (arabized of course) may have possibly ALWAYS having been the underlying theme, but publicly denied, is a disturbing thought. It's hard to believe that Arafat wasn't greatly influenced by his relative, Haj Amin Al-Husseni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem who had extensive Nazi ties to Hitler and Eichmann. After all, he fought for the mufti in 1948 before moving to Egypt. And after fighting in the 1956 war, he moved to Syria and was instrumental in supporting the Baathist party there, while he strengthened his own Fatah movement (and the Baathist and Fatah were closely tied through 1966). And considering the current Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was hand-picked by Arafat, AND HAPPENS TO BE THE GRANDSON OF THE FORMER GRAND MUFTI IN QUESTION.. it would seem that there is more than a passing chance that Nazi symbology and hatred of Jews could prove a useful unifying force for fostering extreme Palestinian hatred of Jews. And considering that a senior bodyguard of Arafat's reportedly is knicknamed "Abu Hitler" (Fawzi Salem al-Mahdi) and named two of his children "Hitler" and "Eichmann", it can also be considered a telling statement that men closest to Arafat would identify with Hitler in order to impress their leader (which is likely why he did it). It is disturbing to think that pro-Nazis rhetoric and ideology is still be exploited to achieve nationalistic political aims. We saw how the Germans, who embraced Nazism as an answer to their defeat and humiliation in WWI, paid a horrible price as a result of the agenda of Hitler.. And I can see a whole generation of Palestinians being caught up in the same fervor, and paying an even higher price. Because while Nazism may useful as a unifying tool for the Palestinians, it's just as useful to the Israeli right wing in justifying their refusal to bow to Arafat's demands. I look at these photos of Haj Amin Al-Husseini reviewing the Bosnian SS troops he recruited for Germany, I wonder just how much Arafat admires his relative (Grand Uncle?)srpska-mreza.com Hawk
