Happy day not only for fans of Inter or Brazil, but for anyone who loves the game. Ronaldo starts for Inter, plays fine football for 66 minutes, and scores his first goal in way too long. Far too early to know if he will hold up, or be able to play for Brazil in the WC, but it's nice just to have him back on the field.

If he stays healthy and holds a place in the starting lineup it will also be a strong stroke in favor of Inter, already at the top of Serie A, and finally with both Vieri and Ronaldo in the lineup. Bit of a story there for Argentina fans as well. Inter's coach this year is Argentina's Hector Cuper, who took over Valencia and brought a small side with an unexceptional budget to two consecutive Champions League finals and made them one of Europe's hardest sides to beat. Now he's taken over Inter, and brought a team long dismissed as a bunch of feckless dilettantes to the top of the table. On the basis of current showing, certainly one of the top coaches in the world now, and a good contender for the Argentina job.

Argentina also has an amazing amount of young talent coming up. I saw Barcelona's Javier Saviola, who made such a stir for Argentina in the last under 21 championships, throw out a brilliant performance not long ago, and thought that with Saviola, Martin Palermo, and Valencia's Pablo Aimar, Argentina could throw together an offense of youngsters that would be the envy of teams all over the world.

We'll see.....
