What worries me is that Intel has most channels pretty well stuffed right now, and they have the OEMs running scared again.

Whenever Intel starts talking about parts shortages, the OEMs know that Intel is getting its extortion machine warmed up. If the OEMs don't follow Intel's instructions regarding what configurations they are allowed to sell and who they are allowed to buy from, they get cut off from parts they need to sell into the profitable "corporate" market.

Right now, Intel has made it quite clear that it will allow no systems to be configured with AMD CPUs and Windows 2000 or XP Professional - which keeps AMD out of the corporate market and locks out Athlon MP support from major OEMs.
