Yes, I saw her comments. And I agree that omission is very difficult to spot. You'd have to actively study the matter watching and comparing the various presentations. I did my own simple experiment recently. When my cable started broadcasting Fox News, I went cold turkey for about two months to try to identify the differences. I didn't find all that many.

But it is pretty easy to find bias if you want to. Just look for the subjective, sensationalistic or otherwise judging words.

I agree that news production has gotten away from straight news. Everyone tries to jazz it up so perspectives get included. Besides, one can hardly avoid portraying a mass murder as bad and a successful landing on the moon as good. Most of that I write off as the personality of the presenter rather than overt bias, like interviewing your candidate in good light and the opposition candidate in bad light. My pet peeve in communicating bias is the eye roll. Other than that, I mostly just look past it. It's unfortunate that news has become entertainment. As long as it is, though, we will get personality with our news.
