I can't get the link to work now either. I copied it out of a hotmail message I got from a friend and deleted the message. I think the link is back to the e-mail.

The summary of the article is that several cable ISPs, lead by Time-Warner, are trying to suppress the use of home routers which have software to act as a subnet thereby allowing a home or small business to connect several users to the internet on a single cable connection. They are starting a campaign to lable this as "bandwidth stealing" and are trying to get it legally tied to copying music and other Napster type operations. The requirement will be to assign a unique IP address to each device (behind the router) and disallow the non-forwarding IP addresses currently available on the internet. I think they are also implying that it will help fight terrorism by making each machine identifiable.
