You are far too innocent. The asynch. mode was part of the differentiation initiative which some thought would avoid Q's IPR.

Bad move, as history now shows.

But maybe not. The Q doesn't have a stranglehold on the architecture, so all the pain the Cabal has undergone perhaps is worth the foolishness. Only time will tell.

Looks like UMTS will look a lot like QCDMA.
