Time is not static. Looking at religion only through eyes focused on the present is virtually equivalent to being blind, as you aren't really seeing much. If we lived in the times of the Crusades, I guess you would have a different view of Islam and Christianity (if you were looking at the two through unbiased eyes). The religions are the same now as they were then. However, the followers of the two religions are behaving much differently. I'm sure 100 years from now if you could be alive you would have another view of the religions based on how the respective followers are practicing them.
