I wish we could find a better vocabulary because it does seem to be a stumbling block. Whenever you say the words "ego", "egoic", etc. I can't help but pick up a certain dismissive tone which seems to imply that you (or Adi Da) view the self as some sort of unfortunate burden that we are somehow saddled with. Perhaps you could clarify your intended sense of usage as this may just be my perception.

CWG observes that all love begins and ends with self-love and this becomes clear when we consider that there really is only one of us. The illusion of disunity serves to allow us to experience "giving" and "receiving" whether that be love, fear, or anything else but these are free choices rather than causal results. The illusion provides only the context in which such experiences can be chosen.
