Alan,

I'm not sure how much you are looking to spend but recently I've picked up a couple of cheap systems for a friend of mine at Best Buy. These were open box items (ex-floor models or returns) that were in perfect condition. They were 900Mhz Duron, 128MB, 40GB, CD, CDRW. Lots of performance for the low price of $450. They came with WMe but I easily converted them to W2K.

Finished the system for about $730 with a 1.33 Thunderbird, Shuttle ak31 MB. Benching on Sandra at the equiv of a 1.7 or 1.8 Pentium. Not bad for a simple work machine. The Thunderbird prices are dropping like a rock, so chose that instead of a Duron.

Daisied a D-Link WAP into my old D-Link wired switch. Now have 5 machines, 3 wired and 2 wireless on the home network. Daughter is only 10 so I can wait another year or two for unit #6.

Question: I want to ditch Black Ice for Zone Alarm. Do I need the pro for this home/biz system or will the standard do? Can I keep 14-yr old son from nudiebabes.com with it? I also have a 6 user Wingate license. Never notice, but I think they have some anti-porn features, dont they?
