When I first read the theory of the "early" January effect, it sort of dawned on me that it makes intuitive sense. If you are going to do a wash sale, why wait for everyone else.....might as well get it done before everyone else. If MM people are watch other MM people, I can see the logic of how it might lead to an "earlier" January effect.
