Actually, it would be somewhat bigger than you calculate because of interconnections. So far, the only use for embedded DRAM in graphics applications is for portables. There have been several stabs at it, and there will continue to be efforts made in this direction because of the board real estate savings is worth some premium. There are some that have been designed for PDA applications now.

But it still is a workable idea. There is that university group that managed to eliminate the capacitor by taking advantage of the "floating body" effect on SOI. Combine that with a 0.13 micron process and you could likely pack 64 meg. on a high end graphics chip and still meet a reasonable cost target.
