Hi Dave,
FWIW clarkson.edu ;o)

Well Dave,
Fortunately for us you are right about the war so far as it's been relatively painless on this side of the ocean and easy to boot, and I hope you continue to be right. I can always make a buck, but I've only got one wife whom I love very much and two precious, precious children. The Taliban is being routed and that's good. A war half a world away doesn't affect us much, especially if our blood is not being spilled. No terrorist networks have been subdued however. Nothing it seems has really been accomplished except destroying the innkeepers. The Taliban themselves as I recall were not involved in 9/11. Miles to go before I sleep........

Most here, myself included (except pezz, mq, Medroogies and I'm not clear on David :o)), and I guess you, thought the economy and markets were going to continue to roll downhill in 2001 and 9/11 was just an unexpected and tragic catalyst. Obviously you were right about the buying opportunity, congratulations.

I still don't have faith in the current 'recovery' unless we really do have a new economic model where valuations etc don't matter. So far buying right after the initial dump has been profitable and anyone that took that risk deserves their gains just as they would have had no one to blame had they been wrong. C'est la vie. I'm not so intransigent though that I've not made a few tech trades to mitigate some of my admittedly poorer performing 'safe' positions :o)

WRT to the market right now, well many thought the champ was going down for the count and indeed the challenger had him down teetering on one knee by the end of the middle rounds, but the tired old man has managed to absorb every jab and hit to the body. Even the roundhouse to the jaw that sent him reeling hasn't put him down for the count. He's come out of his corner relentless, cut eyes and bleeding, singleminded and now the challenger is on the ropes. The crowd is on it's feet cheering in awe and disbelief ...Rocky Rocky Rocky...

We all love a happy ending... stay tuned ;o)

regards

and opportunistic bear (I've been a bull and I am bullish LT on Natural Gas)
