Yes, there is an element of tautology which rises from the reflexive and recursive nature of the process. Belief influences perception and perception influences belief. And all this is complicated because we exist in a co-created reality. Co-creation is what avoids the trap of solipsism and is also why most gross aspects of reality appear "objective". But "objective reality" is an illusion generated by consciousness and this is the frontier that contemporary physics is now actively exploring. I highly recommend The Physics of Consciousness by Evan Harris Walker for a "report from the field" on this topic. See amazon.com for details.

One of the real differences between eastern and western tradition seems to be that the east provides this vast storehouse of "right brain" perception while the west provides the bulk of the "left brain" analysis and integration which transforms these perceptions into technology. The east has known this stuff for millennia and has been content to simply "enjoy the show". The west is far too restless for that. The result has been initiatives like the Global Consciousness Project (see noosphere.princeton.edu for details) which is documenting the hard evidence that the western mind demands. I particularly recommend their recent analysis of the 9/11 impact on global consciousness.

You might be mistaken about no third party historians in regard to Jesus. Maybe I am missing your point, but I think the idea you mention gets a lot of popular play, but is not quite accurate. Josephus and Tacitus might be two places to look.

The Divine Providence....

>>I know one characteristic we can agree about divine beings. They are never observed in action by third parties.
In fact, no "third party" historians, while reporting on many holy men around the period of time attributed to Jesus Christ, make any mention of him whatsoever..>>

And it makes perfect sense that mankind's matrix of natural understanding would not report on Jesus' life for there's really nothing from a natural, political, social thread to report on. Jesus was completely, totally a-political, a-social, etc. He didn't fit ANY of the commonly accepted understandings for "historical" leadership, etc.

Essentially much of what this boils down to is that there wasn't much of a shred of evidence of anything naturally "conditional" to report on or about. For example, Jesus made ZERO/NO claims in the traditional "conditional" sense. For Love and FREEDOM is antithetical to what mankind traditional worships and records historically.

And it was mankind that tried to pin these definitions, labels and claims to the point where they justified killing Him.

So the only thing we have left with Jesus is the power and presence of ONE thing: THE DIVINE PROVIDENCE.

The Divine Providence of our ONE Lord God in Heaven - who is Jesus Christ Himself - made sure that the record of his Life and mission was recorded in a way that was NOT in any way connected or part of man's "conditional" matrix of claim. Hence, these simple requirements which are not in any way to be part of this "yoke" of man's "conditional" reality - ie. he simply asks us to "love one another as I have loved you"....simply "believe and have faith" and "be a little children" etc.

The Divine Providence is a vast, perfect matrix that accounts for everything and yet does NOT in any way violate our FREE WILL to chose to receive whatever we desire to "receive" based on what we understand, etc.

Peace.

Light!

ONE - LOVE!

GO!!
