Alledgedly, there were reported to be dancing and cheering on the roof of their building, filming the aftermath of the WTC attacks. just celebrating the obvious probability that the US would be compelled to come down hard on many groups including the Palestinian groups? --fl

I believe it's damage control, Hawk, but that also makes it easy for me to believe that they have been advised by Israeli officials to keep quiet. Making a fuss about this story is not in Israeli interests, particularly now when the Bush administration has finally turned their way. As for why they were arrested, as I said before, I've heard conflicting stories. The first is the "dancing on rooftops" story. The second is "being in a white van on the George Washington Bridge on Sept 11" story. From stories I heard reported on Sept 11, I believe that someone was arrested in a white van on the GW bridge -- I just don't know if it was these guys or not. As for the story that we have FBI agents who can't tell Israelis from Arabs, unfortunately I find that one quite easy to believe. And of course, no bureaucracy is swift to admit it's made a mistake.
