John,
i gotta say...well said!
i am plowing through a lot of pathetic posts tonight.
hard to believe they think they are contributing something.

Thanks, uw. I've often felt one of the more thankless jobs on si is the thread moderator. And once I started to write something about that, I began to think about the successes of this thread. That prompted something more than simply a thanks for hard work. I genuinely feel he's done a remarkable job.

It's much easier to destroy a well functioning thread than it is to create and maintain it. In my view, it's up to all of us who benefit from the thread to help maintain it.

John (now let's get back to disagreeing about how much better the US will be when we get the right wing of the Republican party out of office (g))

this thread would be hopeless without a king willing to declare some to be the weakest link..

btw that show "the weakest link" has taken on strong here in the UK. I heard it didn't do too well in the USA, or am I wrong?

Even I watch it. Man, has there been some poetic justice. Several times there has been two women and one guy left. The women conspire and the man is knocked out, some times deservedly, more times not so. In the following rounds the smartest female gets confused and the dumbest female wins. Just too funny to watch -lol-

I believe the SAS have two problems. One is "telling stories", the other "Ruperts". That is officers who want a spell in the SAS as it would look good on their records. Not all officers recommended "through the vine" are up to scratch seemingly. Hence we might see an SAS within an SAS as it were. One for show, one not for show.
